Glaucoma is the result of damage to the optic nerve, often caused by increased intraocular pressure (IOP). This can occur when excess fluid accumulates in the interior of the eye (the eye is not too much fluid or well) and after an eye injury can occur after surgery, eyes, or because a tumor of the eye.
